KIMONO ART PILLOWS

Haori Pillows are made from 3 different vintage kimono fabrics, most of them silk, possibly mixed with wool, cotton, or rayon. The finished pillow abstractly resembles to me a geisha with her 3 layers of her costume....juban, kimono and haori. Embellishment on these pillows is the original himo closure ties from the haori jackets I disassemble. They are small works of art in themselves, each pair being of silk threads that have been hand dyed and woven in kumihimo fashion. The backs of the pillows are a solid color complimenting fabric. Featherfilled cotton inserts. Zipper closure on the bottom. Size is approximately 12" x 20". Dry clean only.

3 panel pillows are made with 3 different vintage kimono fabrics, most of them silk, possibly mixed with wool, cotton, or rayon.  Embellishment on these pillows may include coins, beads, amulets, buttons or rayon ribbon. Simple square pillows are made with one vintage kimono fabric, most of them silk, possibly mixed with wool, cotton, or rayon.  Each Pillow will have a smaller panel that runs along one side. It is separated from the larger panel with vintage rayon trim. This is because kimono fabric is woven on narrow 14" looms, thus the width of the fabric is narrower that the width of the pillow so I have to combine 2 pieces to cover the front of the pillow. But I feel it gives a subtle but sophisticated edge to the overall aesthetic of it's simplicity. The backs of the pillows are a solid color complimenting fabric. Featherfilled cotton insert. Zipper closure on the bottom. Size approx 18" x 18".
